In 1974 a dream was realized and became a reality. Fox Township has a fire company of its own! To some, it's impossible to imagine the amount of work this took along with the blood, sweat and tears of many people. Then again, hard work is what most people in the rural communities know a lot about. But nails and cement are not what hold this building of wood, stone and glass together. It's the sweat that came from Burdell's brow, it's the blood from Malyn and Dudley's cut fingers. The tears that may have fallen into the structure as people like Ralph, Les, and Louie saw a dream coming true. But one thing was needed even more than large hands and strong backs... Altruism - Unselfish concern for others. There are too many who gave these things to thank each and every one, but let's mention a few. The guys from Hatboro, Redhill and Langhorne who gave up free time to help. Art Shupp and Ken and Ann Frey for their compassion and generosity, because the first two trucks would have seemed impossible without them. Charles Shadduck, who housed the fire truck when there was a fire company but no firehouse. Ellis and Agnes Brown, whose donation of the grounds that the firehouse was built upon, their generosity cannot be measured. Lenn Reading, whose caring protected our first firefighters with turnout gear. The Baumunk family whose generosity has spread over many years. These are just a few of the people who have made this dream possible. To those that weren't mentioned, we sincerely thank you! Although it is true that some can give more time than others, even those who can only give a little need to know that it could not be done without you! It almost seems a miracle that this small community was so blessed. But there are some that are willing to even more. It is the firemen, who although they do think of their own safety, YOURS is uppermost in their mind. This pretty much says it all: When people are running out of a burning builiding, firemen are running in. When you think about all of the families that worked together to help the community, not only were they here to protect us, but think of what they passed on to their own children. Most of them grew up in this firehouse learning about volunteering, helping others and community spirit. What valuable lessons those were! For 27 years this company has been here to help others in need and the progress is wonderful to see. From just a few people sitting in the township building, to the beautiful hall that we now have. From one truck to three, and the ambulance that is now here to help save lives. What a difference! We are all privileged to be a part of this. This company has come a long way. We now have not only firemen and firewomen, but EMT's and First Responders. We have people in training, and all of these certifications take time and effort. We thank you all who are willing to learn and to give of yourselves to keep us all safer. To those before us, thank you for showing us what it means to help others. To our new and future members, we hope that this company teaches you about human kindness and family, for firefighters ARE a family and we rest easier knowing that in the future you will be there to protect us and to teach your children and grandchildren all that you've learned. If people quit caring and helping others, then who will be there for you? To all of the original members, we hope that we have kept your dream alive and thriving. To all of the active members now... Great Job! And to all of you reading this that don't think that you fit into any of these catergories, there is a place here for you too! Even if you can only be there to give a tired, thirsty firefighter a glass of cold water, we need you.
